Doctor Who: Timewyrm-Genesys

Gilgamesh, the first hero-king, rules the city of Uruk. It’s probably the Doctor Who novel that I’ve reread the most over the years which I just did again because I’ve decided to read all the Timewyyrm in order for the first time.

However she is not quite destroyed because she is downloaded into the Tardis’ computer and then ejected voctor the time stream. It will be interesting to contrast this with the next novel, Exodus by Terrance Dicks, which from memory is another Doctor Who-by-numbers that is great fun and works well.

As Ace and the others attempt to destroy Ishtar, the Doctor is forced to try to save her. When Ace implores the Doctor not to send her off with Gilgamesh — for obvious reasons, he is a powerful warrior who has been making advances towards her — the Doctor answers her rape concerns by stating “If you’re worried about your virtue Contents [ show ]. Please help improve it by removing unnecessary details and making it more concise. Gneesys may not be perfect, and perhaps I’m being overly ambitious to expect Dickens from a series of novels based on a cult sci-fi TV show, but things are promising. Ace tells Utnapishtim that Qataka was not destroyed, that she is calling herself Ishtar and is planning to take the Earth for herself.

The city wo Urak and Kish are at difference with each other and are at war. So, it’s obvious I can’t really separate my love of Doctor Who from my review of this book. But reading it as a teenager I really didn’t mind, nor was it a stretch to imagine female characters traipsing around Mesopotamia bare-chested.

I’ll admit the characterisation of the Third doctlr Fourth Doctors is amazingly well done, it’s a shame the same can’t be said for the Seventh Doctor. Some are introduced and don’t get a single form of development.

Oh and when the Doctor is reminded of Victoria, he proceeds to say Victoria was better and then insults Ace! The Timewyrm makes an immediate and lasting impression as a truly nasty villain. Instead he feels the Sixth Doctor, if the Sixth Doctor was extremely heartless and didn’t care about his companions.


Anyway, those are some of my thoughts. Ace’s explosives have damaged the transmitter, but it will only be a matter of time before it is repaired. The story is interesting and well written.

Qataka is from Anu. I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of how she’s represented in this book, for whatever reason she’s wrote more similar to how she was in Season 25 than The Curse of Fenric or Survival version of her.

Gilgamesh refuses, and Ishtar docotr enraged, vowing that she will have her revenge. However Doctor Who was originally designed to be a show to help children learn history, though this quickly changed to become the longest running Sci-fi TV show in history and it is still going.

eoctor If he is in his own world he wants to get drunk. Books by John Peel. Peel has a way of objectifying women in his books that celebrates the inherent sexism of sci-fi. Maybe check out some Angela Davis. Plus she saved the Doctor, the princess, and the priestess – so there’s that.
